Rescuing Dogs

Updated: Sep 5, 2019

Adopting a dog can be a very exciting and rewarding experience. To find that one true friend who will love you unconditionally, who you can have plenty of fun with on those long country walks and having a lifetime companion to help you unwind.

There is a reality to all this though, a lot of dogs in rehoming centres have had quite a stressful time adapting to a change in their situation - relationship breakups, owners passing away or neglect and abuse.

So as animal lovers you will need to:

  • Fully commit to offering them the absolute best home

  • Make sure they enjoy every minute of their time with you

  • Help them regain confidence

  • Make them a full member of the family

  • Accept that it may not be an easy ride all of the time

  • Look at ways to help train and exercise them so that you can develop an even closer bond in understanding each other

There are many reputable rehoming centres in the UK and the local area. Visiting the website is always a good start to understand the first steps. You should then either visit the centres or maybe arrange a home visit to discuss further with members of staff. They will be able to assess your situation based on the details you've provided.

You may have the opportunity in becoming a candidate in rehoming a suitable dog for you or be registered so that you maybe matched with a potential dog in the future.
