1) A Labradoodle is a mix of the Labrador retriever and the Standard, Miniature, or Toy poodle.

3) Wally Conron of Australia takes credit for creating the Labradoodle in 1989. He claims to regret the discovery of the cross, asserting that healthy Labradoodles are "few and far between" and most are "crazy or have a hereditary problem." However ‘The Australian Labradoodle Association of America’, an organization run by Labradoodle breeders, say they are "generally considered healthy dogs."

4) There is some controversy over Wally Conron taking credit for the first Labradoodle. The dog mix had been known in the United States since the 1950s and was even used in the entertainment industry in the U.S. as early as the 1960s.

5) All recognised dog breeds are a result of cross breeding, which go back centuries. So depending on the generation there can be some unpredictability in temperaments, but characteristics should usually be linked with Labrador and Poodle traits: intelligent, friendly, affectionate and energetic which makes them a very good family dog, fun, loyal and trustworthy companion.

6) Their parent breeds are both among the world's most intelligent dog breeds, in which the poodle is believed to be among the smartest (second, after the Border Collie).

7) Labradoodles are also a very good choice for those with allergies, providing the poodle coat, rather than the Labrador coat, is inherited.
