Burns and scalds
Be sensible around your dog
1st degree heat burn – this is red sore skin but not broken skin.
Place in bath or hose down with cool water for 10 minutes (no ice or freezing cold water)
Then compress with frozen peas in a tea towel
Go to the vets.
Cannot treat a 2nd degree burns (blister broken skin) or 3rd degree heat burns (major burns, dog will go into shock straight away) – STRAIGHT TO VETS
Chemical burns -
Put on gloves
Stop dog from licking the area
Hose down with cool water
Vets ASAP (with the chemical if possible)
Electrical burns -
Switch off mains
Place dog in the recovery position.
