Dog 1st Aid: Canine Shock

Canine shock 

Symptoms – white gums, panting, temperature drop, weakened pulse.

Causes – severe pain, trauma, haemorrhage, severe infection, major burns.

What to do 

  1. Put the dog in the canine recover position (same as CPR) and try and raise back end using a blanket or coat. 

  2. Risk Assessment.

  3. Cover dog with foil blanket.

  4. Go to vets ASAP.

Allergic reaction – symptom of swelling and go straight to the vets.
